Van Bemmel Raises River, Gets Fold from Brombim

Level 31 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Johannes Van Bemmel opened for 225,000 from under the gun and Paulo Roberto Brombim, after deliberating for 30 seconds, called from the small blind.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and both players were happy to check.

On the {10-Hearts} turn, Brombim put out a bet of 250,000 and Van Bemmel took a few seconds before making the call.

On the {8-Spades} river, which paired the board, the Brazilian put out a bet of 600,000. Van Bemmel took a minute to think before raising to 1,500,000. Brombim snap-folded and Van Bemmel flashed the {a-Diamonds} before scooping the pot.

Manuel Fischer Eliminated in 8th Place (€39,280)

Level 30 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Manuel Fischer
Manuel Fischer

After a raise to 275,000 from Felipe Germano, Manuel Fischer moved all in for 815,000 and was called by Johannes van Bemmel. Much to the surprise of the table, Germano open-folded {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and let the other two battle it out, with Fischer at risk.

Manuel Fischer: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Johannes van Bemmel: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} which meant Van Bemmel's pocket nines held to eliminate Fischer in 8th place. That also means that Germano would have tripled up had he not folded his jacks.

Silma Macalou Eliminated in 9th Place (€30,210)

Level 30 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Silma Macalou
Silma Macalou

Anthony Miles raised preflop to 275,000 but Silma Macalou moved all in for 1,100,000, which Miles called to put Macalou at risk.

Silma Macalou: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Anthony Miles: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The flop of {9-Clubs}{j-Spades}{a-Diamonds} gave Macalou a clear lead, but the turn {8-Hearts} gave Miles an open-ended straight draw. Sure enough, the {q-Clubs} fell on the river to make a straight for Miles, eliminating Macalou in 9th place for a payout of €30,210.

Diogo Cardoso
Diogo Cardoso

Diogo Cardoso and Paulo Roberto Brombim got it all in preflop, with Cardoso at risk.

Diogo Cardoso: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Paulo Roberto Brombim: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Cardoso was pretty far behind going into the hand, and the runout of {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} did him no favors and he was eliminated in 10th place for a payout of €23,230.

Jen Shahade Eliminated in 11th Place (€23,230)

Level 30 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Jennifer Shahade
Jennifer Shahade

PokerStars Ambassador Jen Shahade raised to 570,000 preflop, leaving herself with only 100,000 behind. Johannes van Bemmel decided he wanted to play for all of it, so he reraised all in and Shahade made the call.

Jen Shahade: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Johannes van Bemmel: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}

it was a pretty even coin flip, and the board runout of {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} gave both players a full house, but Van Bemmel had the superior one of tens full of queens to win the hand, eliminating Shahade in 11th place.

Level 30 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Totti Matias Arosuo
Totti Matias Arosuo

Matias Arosuo jammed from the hijack for about 925,000 and Anthony Miles called from the big blind.

Matias Arosuo: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Anthony Miles: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Arosuo was ahead going to the flop, which came {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} to put Miles way ahead.

The {8-Clubs} turn meant Arosuo needed to hit his two-outer to stay alive, but the {9-Spades} completed the board to send Arosuo out in 12th place.

Meanwhile, Anthony Miles extended his mammoth lead and is now approaching 10 million.
