Potentially Huge Pot Ends Up Very Small

Level 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

What could have been a massive pot with stacks blasted in preflop became something very different as the final table got underway.

Alexandre Reard raised to 550,000 under the gun. In middle position, Yann Nasser called. The rest of the action folded around.

The dealer spread a flop of {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The {8-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and Reard put out a bet of 500,000. Nasser called.

The river brought the {10-Diamonds}, and this time Reard bet 1.2 million. After some deliberation, and with just over 3 million in his stack, Nasser just called.

The hands were revealed to some surprised looks from their tablemates.

Reard turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

Nasser showed {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for the superior two pair.

A tablemate who will remain nameless exclaimed to Nasser, "What? You don't like money?"
