Thorel Loses a Couple

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel has had a hell of a time trying to beat Bertrand Grospellier in a pot as the two have battled in the blinds since the final table began. That trend continued when Thorel paid off a bet on the river from Grospellier who rivered a flush against the two pair of Thorel.

A couple of hands later, Thorel raised to 105,000 in the cutoff and Steve O'Dwyer defended from the big blind. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and O'Dwyer check-called a bet of 200,000 from Thorel.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and both players checked to the {q-Diamonds} on the river. O'Dwyer tossed in a bet of 175,000 and Thorel gave it some thought but decided to lay his hand down.

"No Bluff" Says Thorel

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick opened from the cutoff and both Adrian Mateos and Jean-Noel Thorel called in the blinds.

The trio checked the {5-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop and Mateos bet 210,000 on the {j-Clubs} turn. Thorel called and Chidwick folded.

The river was the {3-Hearts}. Mateos bet again for 525,000 and Thorel raised in position to 1,100,000.

Mateos used three time extensions, eyed his opponent and let out a wry smile before folding.

"Bluff?" asked Mateos.

Thorel showed {3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

"No bluff," he said.

O'Dwyer Bricks Out

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick limped in from the small blind and Steve O'Dwyer checked his option. The flop fell {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Chidwick checked to O'Dwyer who bet 75,000. Chidwick called and the {7-Spades} paired the board on the turn.

Chidwick led out for 85,000 this time and O'Dwyer stuck around to see the {8-Diamonds} on the river. Chidwick checked this time and O'Dwyer put together a bet of 250,000 as his time was running out. Chidwick quickly flicked in a call and O'Dwyer turned over {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a missed straight and flush draw. Chidwick held {k-Hearts}{10-Spades} and was awarded the pot.

Ben Heath Eliminated in 6th Place (€149,410)

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Ben Heath
Ben Heath

Jean-Noel Thorel opened to 100,000 from under the gun and Ben Heath shipped all in for 575,000 on the button. Thorel asked for a count and then splashed in the chips to call.

Jean-Noel Thorel: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Ben Heath: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

It was a coin flip but Thorel held the advantage after the {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn was no help to Heath and the {7-Diamonds} on the river only improved Thorel to a set of sevens. Heath came into the day as the shortest stack and will be the first to exit.

The Stage is Set to Crown the EPT Prague Super High Roller Champion

SHR Final Table
SHR Final Table

The final six players were set late last night and they will return today for the final day of competition in the €50,000 EPT Super High Roller. It's been a successful week at the 2019 PokerStars EPT Prague festival for two particular players already, and they are the ones at the top of the table when the action resumes.

Adrian Mateos bagged up a slight chip lead with 2,795,000, edging out Jean-Noel Thorel who will return to 2,705,000. Mateos took down the opening event which was the €10,000 No-Limit Hold'em for just under €200,000 and with it earned his sixth EPT title. On the very next day, Thorel was victorious in a single-day €25,000 high-roller. The two will have their sights set one of the more prestigious titles of the festival along one of the biggest paydays.

They will have some stiff competition, however, as the other four players have large poker resumes in their own right. Stephen Chidwick (1,920,000), Steve O'Dwyer (1,770,000), Bertrand Grospellier (1,200,000), and Ben Heath (615,000) have all had plenty of recent success and could just as well walk away with the title as well.

The action will get underway at 12:30 p.m. local time with just over 50 minutes remaining in level 17. The blinds will be 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 big blind ante and each player will receive an additional three time extensions.

The money bubble burst last night when Seth Davies was eliminated which means the final six players are each guaranteed at least €149,410. Each elimination will come with a hefty pay jump all the way up to the winner earning €725,710.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the important hands and eliminations until a winner is crowned later today.
