Toma and Yokosawa Get Shoves Through

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Toma Tsugunari
Toma Tsugunari

Masato Yokosawa and Tsugunari Toma are the two short stacks at the table and the Japanese videographer has been around to be sure to capture the all-in moment. That nearly came as both players took turns moving their chips into the middle.

First, it was Toma who shoved all in for 1,090,000 in the cutoff and Simon Pedersen asked for a count on the button but decided to not to call. In the next hand, Yokosawa shoved all in for 380,000 and it also got through.

"Matthias, why don't we have a photographer for Pokercode?" Pedersen asked.

"Can't afford one," Eibinger responded. "Maybe we can ask Fedor if he wants to do it."

Rainer Kempe Eliminated in 8th Place (€64,560)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

Rainer Kempe was in the hijack and put in a raise to 280,000, which was more than half of his stack. Action folded around to Simon Lofberg in the big blind, and he announced he was all in. Kempe called.

Rainer Kempe: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Simon Lofberg: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Kempe was behind and the flop {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds} was of no immediate help. The turn {k-Clubs} took away his two outs to a set and replaced them with eight new ones to a straight. Unfortunately for Kempe, he would not fill up as the river {5-Diamonds} hit the felt to complete the runout and he found himself eliminated as the eighth-place finisher in the tournament.

Pedersen and Speranza Double Up

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Simon Pedersen opened to 85,000 in early position and Yunye Lu three-bet to 260,000 in the hijack. The action folded back to Pedersen who shoved all in for 1,090,000. Lu asked for a count and then stuck in a call.

Pedersen turned over {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} which had Lu's {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} in trouble. The flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} gave Pedersen a straight flush draw but it wasn't necessary as his pocket queens held up through the {4-Clubs} and {8-Clubs} runout.

In the next hand, Gianluca Speranza shoved all in for 600,000 in the hijack and Rainer Kempe confirmed the count before pushing over the top on the button. The blinds folded and the two hands were tabled.

It was a coin flip with Speranza holding {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} against the {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} of Kempe. The board ran out {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Kempe was unable to connect as he sent over a double up.

Lu Gets a Quick Fold

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Yunye Lu was in the cutoff and saw action folded to him. He opened to 80,000 and received a call from Matthias Eibinger in the small blind. The two went to a flop of {j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and both players checked.

Action again checked through the turn {8-Diamonds} and the river {10-Spades} came onboard. Eibinger made a bet of 80,000 and Lu thought for most of his shot clock before putting out a raise to 255,000. Eibinger immediately shot his cards across the felt to the dealer to muck them and Lu took down the pot.

George Wolff Eliminated in 9th Place (€53,430)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
George Wolff
George Wolff

Rainer Kempe counted his stack in front of him before shipping all in for around 600,000 in the hijack. George Wolff peeked back at his cards in the small blind before putting in the last of his 460,000 chips.

Rainer Kempe: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
George Wolff: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Wolff was in a good position for a double up but the flop of {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} gave Kempe a pair of aces and the lead. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the river was the {4-Clubs} to send Wolff home in ninth place.

Lofberg Over Three Million

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Masato Yokosawa was under the gun and raised to 90,000. He was three-bet to 230,000 by Simon Lofberg in the cutoff and called.

Action checked to the river as the board came {4-Spades}{a-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and Yokosawa checked one last time before Lofberg threw out a bet of 200,000. Yokosawa went into the tank, using two time extensions to consider his decision.

"Sorry guys," he said amidst his deliberation. He eventually called.

Lofberg tabled {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for two pair, aces and jacks, and Yokosawa sent his cards to the muck, finding himself with 600,000 after losing the pot. Meanwhile, Lofberg is now a hair over 3 million and is the clear chip leader among the final nine.

First Pot Goes to Eibinger

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Matthias Eibinger opened to 60,000 from under the gun and Tsugunari Toma three-bet to 205,000 in middle position. The action folded back to Eibinger who made the call. The flop came {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Eibinger check-called a bet of 175,000 from Toma.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and both players checked to the {q-Clubs} on the river. Eibinger tapped the table again and Toma let out a sigh before checking as well. Eibinger turned over {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for two pair and Toma mucked his cards.
