Day 2 of the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event Kicks-Off at Noon
Another day has come at the 2019 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event and Day 2 of the EPT Main Event will start today at noon local time in the beautiful Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. Over 900 players are already registered in the tournament with registration still open until the start of Day 2. The prize pool will be announced shortly after the registration closes at the start of Day 2.
This EPT Monte Carlo Main Event is the third biggest already in the history of the event. Last year's Main Event attracted 777 entries and the 903 entries from this year already improve the number quite a lot. Registration will be still open and players get to sit down with 30,000 chips in level 11: 800/1,600 with a big blind ante of 1,600.
Sylvain Mazza leads the field after he bagged the chip lead on Day 1b yesterday. He managed to bag 288,700 and that was just a bit more than Day 1a chip leader Ludovic Geilich (271,400). Other notable players who bagged big on Day 1 of the Main Event include Sam Grafton (259,800), James Romero (235,000), Govert Metaal (138,700), and Manig Loeser (128,600).
The 2018 EPT Prague Main Event Champion Paul Michaelis is also still in the mix. He bagged 159,000 and he will return to Day 2 of the Main Event with just a little under 100 big blinds at the start of the day. Michaelis took the Prague Main Event down in 2018 after beating a 1,184 entry field for €840,000.
The remaining players will play five 90-minute levels with a 20-minute break after every level. There will be no scheduled dinner break but the players are expected to be done at about 9 p.m. later today.
