Kassem Eliminates Stavrakis

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The eliminations just don't stop here in the tournament room at Casino Barcelona. Over 70 players have been eliminated already today and the number keeps dropping rapidly.

The last to exit was Filippos Stavrakis. The American pushed 61,000 to the middle with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Hommoud Kassem called from the big blind with {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

The board ran out {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Stavrakis was sent to the rail.

Hakkanen Gets There

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Jussi Hakkanen shoved for 200,000 from under the gun and Mikael Guenni called on the button. Romain Dours reshoved all in from the big blind and Guenni snap-called for 158,000 more.

Jussi Hakkanen: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Mikael Guenni: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Romain Dours: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop gave Hakkanen a straight flush for plenty of equity. He drew a blank on the {3-Clubs} turn but nailed the {6-Hearts} river to triple up. Guenni took the side pot from Dours and remained in contention as well.

Manana Eliminated

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Joao Manana sat on the button when he pushed 103,000 in the middle with {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. James Cormac King sat in the big blind and immediately called when he looked down at {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

The {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop and turn brought a sweat, but the {2-Clubs} river was the ultimate brick and King sent Manana to the rail.

Barer Doubles Up

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The board read {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Ami Barer got all of his remaining chips in the middle holding {k-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a straight. His opponent had {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for top pair and an open-ended straight draw.

His opponent his a straight on the {8-Spades} turn but it wasn't enough to beat the bigger straight of Barer.

Field Below 200 Players After Frantic Opening Moments

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

As could be expected after finishing just after the bubble burst last night, a plethora of players were all in right off the bat on Day 2. Varabei shoved a little over a 100,000 all in and received a call from Aleksei Gortikov.

Yury Varabei: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Aleksei Gortikov: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop was good for Varabei, but the {q-Diamonds} turn and {q-Clubs} river were not what he needed and he was eliminated.

In a blind on blind battle on another table, Tobias Peters shoved all in with {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades} in the small blind and Arthur Conan called with {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} in the big blind.

The {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board smashed Peters and Conan was off to the payout desk.

Dunst Wins With King-High

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Tony Dunst raised to 16,000 from the cutoff and he was called by big blind Jean Koja. The flop was dealt {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Koja checked to Dunst.

Dunst continued with a bet of 12,000 but that wasn't enough to shake Koja. He called and the {9-Diamonds} turn was dealt. They both checked on this street and did so too on the {7-Clubs} river.

Dunst showed {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and that was enough to win the hand.
