Sierra Oddone Busts After Wrong Call
Level 13
: 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
The completed board read with Jean Sierra Oddone in a heads-up battle against Ben Wilinofsky. Sierra was the shorter of the two stacks and was put to the test by Wilinofsky on the river when he bet 70,000, which was enough to put Sierra all in if the called.
Oddone contemplated his decision as Wilinofsky remained completely motionless. After nearly a minute passed, Sierra made the call and got the bad news when Wilinofsky tabled for two pair with a king kicker. Sierra nodded and mucked his hand before he left the table, while another player asked for Sierra's hand to be revealed.
"Jack-ten," said Wilinofsky, and sure enough the dealer flipped over for two pair, ten kicker.
Wilinofsky, who took the Day 1a chip lead, is now up to 365,000.
