Level 38 : 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

After wishing each other "bonne chance", Martini raised the first hand of the heads-up and Jean-René Fontaine called. The flop was {2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Fontaine check-called a bet from Martini.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and Fontaine now check-called 4,400,000. The river brought the {7-Clubs} and Martini emptied the clip with a bet of 7,300,000. Fontaine folded and Martini took the chip lead.

Alberto Ah-Line Eliminated in 3rd Place (€242,000)

Level 38 : 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante
Alberto Ah-Line

Julien Martini raised to 2,200,000 from the small blind, Alberto Ah-Line three-bet shoved 13,800,000 in the big blind and Martini called.

Alberto Ah-Line: {9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Julien Martini: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Ah-Line had live cards but couldn't catch up to Martini as the dealer fanned out {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts} to seal Ah-Line's fate in third place.

Ah-Line, who hails from Saint-Denis de la Réunion, a French overseas region, explained the hand in an exit interview afterwards. The 93 reshove was a move, but also a bit of a tribute to Bruno 'Kool Shen' Lopes, when PokerNews asked Ah-Line afterwards. Rapper Kool Shen is from Saint-Denis, which has an area code of 93. Ah-Line hails from Saint-Denis de la Réunion where the 93 is played a bit like the 72-game in other areas.

"It's my only mistake of the tournament but it's a dream to get here. I have no regrets," Ah-Line said. "On Monday, my wife is coming to Barcelona. I'm going to spend the holidays with her and just play the 2K EPT National High Roller," he told PokerNews. With €242,000 in winnings, Ah-Line has quite the holiday ahead of him.

Fontaine With the Better Hand

Level 38 : 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

Jean-René Fontaine keeps popping up with the best of it in hands against Julien Martini and just now won another small one from the bracelet winner. Martini opened the action with a raise to 2,000,000 on the button and Fontaine defended.

Fontaine let Martini handle the aggression post-flop, and after {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{3-Spades} got checked Martini bet 2,200,000 on the {6-Hearts} turn and 2,400,000 on the {8-Spades} river. Fontaine check-called twice.

Martini showed {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} but Fontaine had him crushed with the {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds} to scoop the pot.
