Plesuv Wins 1.5 Million Pot With an Unimproved Five-Six

Level 16 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Action folded to Andras Nemeth in the small blind and he limped in. Big blind Pavel Plesuv checked his option.

What started out as a small pot would soon become anything but. Nemeth bet 35,000 on {3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Plesuv raised to 115,000. Nemeth came over the top with the three-bet to 285,000. Plesuv called.

The {7-Clubs} hit the turn and Nemeth continued his aggression with a bet of 400,000. Plesuv used a time bank card before he called.

With the {8-Clubs} completing the board, Nemeth checked. Plesuv again needed a time bank card before he checked behind.

"It's very unlikely this wins," Nemeth said before showing {4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Indeed it didn't, but Plesuv had anything but a powerhouse himself, taking down the pot with {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and a huge grin on his face.
