Carrel Rivers a Flush
Right back from the break, Charlie Carrel clashed with Dario Sammartino. De Italian bet 3,000 from the big blind in a 5,000 pot, with the board reading: .
Carrel thought for a moment and asked Sammartino how many blue chips (5,000 each) he had. Sammartino thought Carrel asked for the number of blinds he was playing and frowned to his opponent. Carrel quickly made himself clear "No, how many blues do you have"
Sammartino smiled and responded: "About 35,000 in blues."
Carrel made the call and the two went on to the river. This time Sammartino checked and Carrel fired out a bet of 7,000. Sammartino snap-called but was shown the bad news, when Carrel tabled for the flush.
Sammartino laughed and took another peek at his cards. "I still like them", he said, before sliding his cards into the muck.
