Hands #23-24: Carrel Makes a Good Laydown

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #23: From early position, Mustapha Kanit raised to 175,000 holding {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}. He took down the blinds and antes as Anton Bertilsson had just six-three off suit in the big blind.

Hand #24: Kanit under the gun raised to 175,000 with {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Charlie Carrel right next to him flat with {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. On the button, Chance Kornuth folded {K-Spades}{J-Hearts} and let the two of them to it.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, giving Kanit a flush draw. Kanit bet 200,000 and Carrel made the call.

The {9-Diamonds} gave Kanit some extra outs and he continued for 500,000 into the 930,000 pot.

The {7-Diamonds} fell on the river and commentator Grospellier let out one of his signature 'So sick!'s. With the pot at 1,930,000, Kanit now bet 1.4 million!

Carrel thought about it, and the two of them talked quite a bit while doing so. Carrel announced he had kings and Kanit said he already thought of that hand.

"It's a good hand, kings. It's one of my favorites."

The two of them went through the hands Kanit could have, and the Italian high roller rattled them right off.

After 4:17 minutes in the tank, Carrel eventually folded.

"Good fold bro, good fold!" Kanit said, and he showed the {10-Clubs}.

Hand #18: Mustapha Kanit in the big blind took down this pot, getting a walk from the other players.

Hand #19: Action folded to Kanit in the small blind and he completed holding {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Charlie Carrel with {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} checked. The flop came {3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Kanit checked called a bet of 80,000.

The {10-Hearts} hit the turn and Kanit now check called a 200,000 bet.

The {Q-Clubs} on the turn was a blank and Kanit checked. Carrel bet 650,000 into the 740,000 pot. Kanit tanked but folded after 3 minutes.

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #13: Keith Johnson called from the small blind with the {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Mustapha Kanit raised to 160,000 from the big blind with the {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Johnson folded.

Hand #14: Unknown action beforehand saw Charlie Carrel and Keith Johnson heads up on the turn of a {4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}{k-Hearts} board.

Carrel bet 200,000 with the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Johnson called with the {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

The river came the {q-Diamonds} and Carrel bet 450,000. Johnson tanked it out for minute before folding.

Hand #15: Charlie Carrel made it 180,000 with the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Jeff Rossiter called.

The flop came {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Rossiter checked, Carrel bet 130,000 and Rossiter folded.

Hand #17: Jeff Rossiter opened for 150,000 on the button and Anton Bertilsson defended the big blind with the {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Bertilsson checked the {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop and Rossiter bet 135,000. Bertilsson called and checked the {9-Hearts} turn. Rossiter checked behind and the {10-Clubs} river was also checked by both.

Hands #8-12: Kornuth Has a Good Read

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #8: Action folded to Keith Johnson on the button and he raised it up. In the small blind, Mustapha Kanit three-bet and Charlie Carrel in the big blind folded right away. Johnson folded as well, and we'll never know what as a technical problem prevented graphics from being displayed.

Hand #9: Jeff Rossiter received a walk in the big blind.

Because of a problem with the graphics, the live stream was on an unscheduled break for about 5 minutes.

Hand #10: Under the gun, Anton Bertilsson raised to 120,000 holding {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}. On the button, Charlie Carrel found {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and asked how much Bertilsson was playing behind (around 3.5 million). Carrel then three-bet to 325,000 and action folded to Bertilsson. The Swedish qualifier thought about it for a bit before he folded.

"Where you got those glasses?" Carrel asked.

"On some holiday in France" Bertilsson answered.

Chance Kornuth then smiled and asked the rhetorical question if anyone had ever asked a question that changed the subject after having had a value hand.

"You're gonna look really smart in an hour" Carrel said with a smile.

Hand #11: Action folded to Chance Kornuth in the small blind and he folded his {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, giving Bertilsson a walk with {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}.

Hand #12: Action folded again to Anton Bertilsson and he had ace-six again. With {A-Clubs}{6-Spades} he raised to 150,000 and Keith Johnson in the big blind called with {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} pairing both. Bertilsson bet 150,000 and Johnson called.

The {7-Diamonds} on the turn brought a third diamond and paired the board. Bertilsson checked and was followed by Johnson who bet 275,000 into the 660,000 pot. Bertilsson made the call.

The {6-Clubs} paired Bertilsson but it meant they chopped the pot after both players checked.
