Popov Climbs the Counts While Sending Chen to the Rail

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We saw Canada's Thomas Popov, a PokerStars qualifier, sitting with a massive pile of chips. We inquire as to how he got them, and were told it was due in part to a double elimination.

From what we were told, Popov opened for 4,000 under the gun and a player moved all in from middle position for right around 50,000. Andrew Chen then moved all in over the top from the cutoff for 60,000 or so, the button and blinds all folded, and Popov made the call with pocket kings.

The middle-position player held {a-}{q-}, Chen {j-}{j-}, and the board ran out clean. That was great news for Popov, who finds himself among the biggest stacks in the room.
