Smith, Melogno Battle Twice; Smith Left Short

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Pablo Melogno raised to 27,000 on the button, and Dan Smith three-bet to 81,000 just before the new level. Melogno decided to see the flop, which came {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Smith bet 75,000, and Melogno put him all in for 280,000 more. Smith didn't take too long to think things over before he opted to call with {j-Spades}{9-Spades}, second pair and a straight draw. Melogno had {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and his hand held through the {5-Diamonds} turn. A {k-Diamonds} gave Smith a straight on the river, though.

Just a few hands later, Melogno got it all back. With the board reading {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{j-Spades} on fourth street, Melogno shoved all in for 528,000 over a Smith barrel of 180,000. Smith called with {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, but Melogno had outdrawn him on the turn with {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. The {k-Diamonds} river that helped Smith before was a brick now, and he sent nearly all of his stack to Melogno.
