De Meulder the Big Stack
You sometimes hear of a special connection twins have with each other where the one feels if something really good or bad is happening with his or hers brother or sister. If that's the case for the Belgian PokerStars Team Pro's Matthias and Christophe De Meulder, the latter must have felt something good a couple of minutes ago.
Matthias De Meulder isn't joined by his twin brother Christophe here in Barcelona, but so far the day has been pretty great for Matthias. He just told us about a hand where a player opened for 3,500 before the break. The player on the button made the call, the small blind added some chips, and De Meulder with the in the big blind called as well.
The flop came and the small blind and De Meulder checked. The initial raiser made a bet of 6,500 and the player on the button made the call. The small blind folded, De Meulder called.
An off suit fell on the turn giving De Meulder a straight. The Belgian Team Pro checked his option and saw the initial raiser bet 15,000 with 65,000 behind. The button called and De Meulder shoved all in, putting both his opponents to the test. The initial raiser called, the button folded.
De Meulder had to dodge board pair outs as the initial raiser had pocket fours. The river was a blank and De Meulder could start stacking.
