With one opener already Andrey Elizarov made the call and when it got to Christoph Szedlak in the big blind he raised it to 14,000. The original raiser folded and Elizarov paused and made the call.
The flop was and, first to act, Szedlak continued the aggression with a bet of 17,500. Elizarov mulled it over and clicked it back with a bet of 35,000.
The bet really seemed to puzzle Szedlak and several minutes ticked by. He couldn’t seem to work out exactly what was going on and eventually decided to fold face up. This prompted Elizarov to show his own .
While he was still stacking his chips Elizarov was in the next hand on a flop of when Ben Warrington made a bet of 10,500. Elizarov raised him to 20,500 and when Warrington folded he flipped over .
Tobias Peters just called us over to tell a hand which was "pretty sick". We always take these type of hands with a grain of salt, but when Peters explained what happened we had to agree it was pretty sickening.
Peters raised under the gun holding pocket kings and Alexander Moiseev moved all in for 41,000. The player in the small blind folded and the Dutchman called with .
Peters was well ahead against the of Moiseev, but the flop brought giving his opponent one more out to win.
"Seven," Moiseev said and he immediately got what he asked for.
The seven on the turn gave Moiseev quads with the ace kicker and the four of the river did not help Peters.
Marco van Opzeeland started the day with just over 15,000 and for the longest time he wasn't able to make anything happen.
Just now we saw him seated at a different table after his first table got broken. All of the sudden he had 140,000 in front of him.
Van Opzeeland told us he had been grinded down a couple of times just to double back up with the best hand not much later.
But when things really mattered he got lucky. Holding ace-queen he rivered someone with kings. Two queens on the board and Van Opzeeland started his full recovery. Not much later he successfully bluffed Marc-Andre Ladouceur and made some good lay downs to get his stack up to 140,000.
Action folded to Gus Hansen on the button and he put in a raise, which was met by an all-in three-bet to 22,500 from Arian Ghofrani Far in the big blind. Hansen made the call and liked what he saw.
Hansen:
Far:
"I wanted to see an ace," Hansen admitted. "I just don't want to see another one."
Hansen got his wish as the board ran out a clean .
Vitaly Lunkin's tournament was just ended by Sam Trickett. Lunkin's small stack ended up all in before the flop after a raising war and the showdown went as following.
Lunkin:
Trickett:
The board ran out and Lunkin was knocked out. Trickett grabbed some more chips as he's among the chip leaders.
With around 15,000 in the pot and a flop of , Iliodoros Kamatakis checked, as did a player in middle position, and then Aram Sargsyan bet 8,500 from the button. Kamatakis, who had a mountain of chips in front of him, decided to check-raise to 27,000, the other player folded, and Sargsyan called off for 24,800.
Kamatakis:
Sargsyan:
Sargsyan got it in good with two pair, and it held as the appeared on the turn followed by the on the river.
We're sad to inform you that Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov, who began Day 2 with the biggest stack for Team Pros, was recently eliminated. We missed the details, but he did tweet about it:
While Katchalov is out of the Main Event, he isn't done playing today. That's because he needs to finish his heads-up match against Niki Jedlicka in the Eureka High Roller, which you can read about by clicking here.
Michael Telker has been eliminated. He folded for most of the day, claiming to be card dead. Having moved tables he got one shove through but was out soon after. PokerNews caught up with him just after the Tournament Director had returned his water bottle filled with vodka.
Asked about his exit hand all he would say was, “Jacks against king-queen? Yeah that didn’t really work out.”
Johnny Lodden opened for 4,000 and got callers in Vit Blachut on the button and the big blind. The three players saw a flop of and it was checked to Blachut who bet 5,000 after some thought. The big blind folded and Lodden made the call.
Turn was the and again Lodden checked. Blachut gave it some more thought and then reached out to move all his chips over the line. Lodden threw his hand away.
