Vitaly Lunkin Eliminated in 4th Place (€148,800)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Vitaly Lunkin - 4th Place
Vitaly Lunkin - 4th Place

Vitaly Lunkin, who won the PokerStars.com EPT10 Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller for €771,300, got off to a hot start today and quickly assumed the chip lead. Things came together fast for the Russian, but they also came apart just as quickly.

After being crippled, Lunkin moved all in the very next hand from the button. Anatoly Filatov called from the small blind, and the cards were turned up.

Lunkin: {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Filatov: {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop gave Filatov two pair, but it also gave Lunkin trips. The {J-Hearts} turn gave Filatov even more outs, but he'd miss them on the {9-Diamonds} river and Lunkin would double through.

Two hands later, Filatov opened for 80,000 under the gun and then called when Lunkin shoved for approximately 440,000 from the big blind.

Filatov: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}
Lunkin: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Lunkin got it in good, but this time it would be Filatov that would hit the flop, which came down {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Neither the {5-Hearts} turn nor {5-Diamonds} river helped Lunkin, and he was sent to the rail in fourth place for €148,800.

"Good game, Vitaly," Fabrice Soulier offered as Lunkin shook hands with the three remaining players.

Huge Pot for Soulier – Lunkin Crippled

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Fabrice Soulier opened for 85,000 and Vitaly Lunkin made it 225,000 from the small blind. Anatoly Filatov folded and they saw a flop. So far the action ran very similar to the one we reported on not long ago.

The flop was {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

Lunkin Led out for 260,000 and Soulier raised him to 560,000. This time Lunkin did not fold, he announced all in. Soulier took an earphone out to confirm he heard right and made the call.

Lunkin: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Soulier: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Soulier had flopped two pair but needed to avoid a queen or a running straight.

Turn {2-Diamonds} and river {9-Clubs} giving Soulier a full house and a huge pot.

Okhotskyi Best Lunkin in Two Hands

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Oleh Okhotskyi
Oleh Okhotskyi

Is it a coincidence that Ukraine's Oleh Okhotskyi Ukraine hat and that today's player bracelet (which allows players access to the Hofburg Palace) are both in his country's colors? Could it be a sign? Seems silly, but then again, Okhotskyi is not only sticking around, he's chipping up!

In a recent hand, Vitaly Lunkin raised to 80,000 from the button and a short-stacked Okhotskyi called from the big blind. When the flop fell {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, Okhotskyi moved all in for 263,000 and Lunkin called.

Okhotskyi: {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Lunkin: {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Okhotskyi had defended with a weak hand, but it paid off when the flop gave him two pair. The {2-Clubs} turn changed nothing, and while the {5-Clubs} river paired Lunkin, it didn't pair the card he needed. Okhotskyi doubled through the Russian.

The next time Okhotskyi was in the big blind, Lunkin once again raised, but this time he made it 100,000. Okhotskyi decided to defend once again, and then both players checked the {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop. Okhotskyi proceeded to check-call a bet of 130,000 on the {K-Spades} turn, and then he check-called one of 150,000 on the {9-Clubs} river.

Lunkin confidently tabled the {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for two pair, but it was no good as Okhotskyi had a straight with the {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

Lunkin Sets Up Soulier

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Fabrice Soulier opened for 80,000 under the gun and Vitaly Lunkin looked him up from the button. After the blinds folded and the flop came down {q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Soulier led out for 84,000. Lunkin called and then bet 130,000 on the {7-Clubs} turn after Soulier checked. The Frenchman proceeded to check-raised to 284,000, Lunkin called, and the {6-Spades} completed the board on the river.

Soulier put together a bet of around 350,000, and Lunkin snap-called. Soulier tabled the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for top pair, but it was no good as Lunkin had flopped a set with the {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Fabrice Soulier exhales hard after a big double up
Fabrice Soulier exhales hard after a big double up

Fabrice Soulier opened from the small blind for 75,000 when it was folded to him and Dmitry Yurasov called in the big blind.

They saw a flop of {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

Soulier checked and then called a bet of 85,000 from Yurasov. The turn card was the {6-Spades} and again Soulier checked. When Yurasov bet 170,000 this time Soulier raised him to 355,000. Yurasov moved all in and when Soulier confirmed what he had said he quickly called.

Soulier threw over the {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a turned straight and was out of his chair in anticipation. Yurasov tabled the {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.

The river card was the {3-Diamonds} and Soulier doubles up and sees Yurasov slip down the field.
