Diamonds In The Sky

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Marc-Andre Ladouceur
Marc-Andre Ladouceur

Sebastian Saffari has just put an end to the EPT Sanremo Main Event 2014 of Marc-Andre Ladouceur. The preflop raise to 650 was called by three players including the Team Online Pro, who proceeded to call the 1,100 continuation bet on the {A-}{7-}{3-} flop. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn delivered a flush draw and Saffari barreled for 2,500 - call once again.

On the {5-Diamonds} river, Saffari bet 1,900 and called the shove of his opponent for ~ 12,000. Ladouceur could not beat the {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} of his opponent and left the tournament area.

Boeree Back in Action

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

Niels van Leeuwen told us an interesting hand he had played with Team PokerStars Pro and former EPT Sanremo winner Liv Boeree.

Van Leeuwen had opened under the gun plus one. The player two positions down three-bet to 1,700, and Liv Boeree flat called. Van Leeuwen followed that example and the three of them saw a flop.

All three players checked the {A-}{8-}{4-} flop and the {2-} hit the turn. Van Leeuwen checked once more, and so did the three-better. Boeree then bet out and just Van Leeuwen made the call, the three-better folded. The Dutch player, who won the FPS Main Event in Deauville last January for €175,000, check called another bet once the {7-} hit the river.

Van Leeuwen had to muck as Boeree showed {7-}{8-} for a rivered two pair.

An Orbit w/ Spain's Juan Pardo

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Every now and then we like to spend an entire orbit watching a player. Sometimes they mix it up during that time, while other times they're on autopilot. Most recently, we spent an orbit observing Spanish player Juan Pardo, who was sitting with approximately 28,000 in chips.

Hand #1 (Early Position): The under-the-gun player folded and Pardo did the same.

Hand #2 (Under the Gun): Pardo folded.

Hand #3 (Big Blind): Alessandro Sarro opened for 650 from early position and action folded around to Pardo in the big blind. He released his hand.

Hand #4 (Small Blind): Alessandro Sarro raised to 650 under the gun and received a call from the player in the cutoff. Pardo folded when action reached him in the small blind.

Hand #5 (Button): The hijack raised to 750 and Pardo folded.

Hand #6 (Cutoff): The under-the-gun player opened for 700 and Pardo folded when action reached him.

Hand #7 (Hijack): Action folded to Pardo and he did the same.

Hand #8 (Middle Position): A player opened for 600 and Pardo folded.

Hand #9 (Middle Position): The same action from the previous hand repeated itself here.

As you can see, poker can be quite boring; in fact, we stayed around an extra three hands, but Pardo failed to get involved. Poker is a game of patience, and Pardo is clearly practicing that right now. Meanwhile, a couple of Pardo's fellow countrymen are doing quite well here on Day 1b.

Yann Dion On the Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Yann Dion
Yann Dion

Preflop there was a raise to 600 and a call, Yann Dion raised to 1,700 and only Adel Kabbani called to see the {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop. No further action occurred on the first three community cards and Kabbani then check-called 1,900 on the {3-Hearts} turn.

The {8-Spades} river paired the board and Kabbani checked for the third time in a row. Dion grabbed two red and one blue chip to bed 7,000. This value bet was just the right amount as his French opponent made the call and then mucked the {A-Diamonds} when Dion showed him {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

Fatherly Advice for Oliver

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Chris Oliver won nearly $2,000,000 at the PCA in 2011 for coming second, and was being given some fatherly advice by Iliodoros Kamatakis, a live satellite qualifier from Greece.

Kamatakis explained that it was different when you’re 42 like he is compared to a young man like Oliver having won so much money and who was now only 24. Oliver nodded his head in agreement as Kamatakis went on to explain that this was the very reason that Oliver should reveal what he had in a previous hand that he’d beaten him out of.

Hille Eliminated

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Elisabeth Hille
Elisabeth Hille

We asked Dutchman Niels van Leeuwen if he knew how his former table mate Elisabeth Hille had been eliminated. He didn't.

We asked EPT berlin winner Kevin MacPhee if he knew how his former table Elisabet Hille mate had been eliminated. He didn't.

We looked at EPT Sanremo winner Liv Boeree with a questioning face if she knew how her former table mate had been eliminated. She didn't.

"Well, there must be someone who knows right? Someone must have eliminated her" MacPhee laughed.

The player next to Boeree knew, as he was the one playing the role of executioner. Hille was extremely short already, so busting her out didn't make him all that much richer. He had opened the button with queen-jack and Hille had called from the big blind. Hille had check-shoved on {K-}{J-}{5-} and had received a call. Hille had queen-ten for the open-ended, and didn't improve.

Josh Prager On The Rail

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Immediately after his elimination we caught Josh Prager on the rail and he confirmed the betting sizes of his last hand. He opened preflop with the {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and got three callers to see the four-way {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-} flop. Prager made the continuation bet for 1,100, Christian Favale raised to 2,600 on the button and Martin Jacobson squeezed it to 8,200.

Prager, not convinced that any of the opponents may have a super strong hand, clicked it to 20,000 and only left 2,000 chips behind, though they'd eventually find their way into the pot. Jacobson called with {K-}{2-} for two pair and that held strong on turn and river.

Salter Sees Opportunity

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Jack Salter
Jack Salter

Jack Salter was in the big blind and called the extra to make up 700 as four players went to the flop.

They saw {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Salter led out for 1,600. One by one the players folded and Salter took down the pot for a very nice price.
