An Orbit w/ 2011 World Series of Poker Champ Pius Heinz

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Pius Heinz
Pius Heinz

Back in 2011, Pius Heinz topped a field of 6,865 players to win the World Series of Poker Main Event for $8,715,638. Since then Heinz has sort of dropped off the poker radar. That changed when he made an appearance at the EPT10 Vienna last month, and now he's back on the EPT here in Sanremo.

We don't get to watch Heinz in action much these days, so we took the opportunity to spend an entire orbit with him. Heinz, who is sporting a beard and grey cap, started the orbit with right around 35,000.

Hand #1 (Under the Gun): Heinz was first to act and folded his hand.

Hand #2 (Big Blind): Carsten Chylla opened for 500 under the gun and received a call from Carter Swidler. Italy's Vincenzo Scarpitti then came along, Heinz called from the big blind, and four players saw a flop of {7-Spades}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Heinz was first to act and led out for 1,300, which inspired Chylla to fold. The other two players called, and the {7-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. Heinz bet again, this time 3,000, and Swidler quickly folded. Scarpitti then pushed back with a min-raise to 6,000, Heinz called, and it was heads-up action to the {9-Clubs} river.

Heinz slowed down with a check, and then wasted little time in folding to a bet of 7,000 from Scarpitti.

Hand #3 (Small Blind): A player in middle position opened for 425 and Heinz folded when action reached him.

Hand #4 (Button): The cutoff raised to 450 and Heinz folded.

Hand #5 (Cutoff): Action folded around to Heinz and he did the same. The big blind ended up getting a walk in the hand.

Hand #6 (Hijack): The under-the-gun player raised to 500 and Heinz ended up folding.

Hand #7 (Middle Position): Once again the under-the-gun player opened for 500 and Heinz ended up folding.

Hand #8 (Middle Position): A player in early position raised to 450 and Heinz folded.

Hand #9 (Early Position): The under-the-gun player folded and so did Heinz.

Aside from the second hand of the orbit, Heinz was in fold mode.

Meanwhile, both David Suarez and Patryk Poterek have both been eliminated from the tournament.
