Akkari Misses Out on the Money

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

After being crippled when his queens were cracked, Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari found a spot to commit his stack just a few hands later.

The hand began with Mohsin Charania opening from the hijack and Mayu Roca three-betting to 15,500 from the cutoff. The Brazilian then moved all in for 17,700 from the big blind, both his opponents called, and the flop fell {10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

Both active players checked, and then Charania led out for 12,500 on the {6-Diamonds} turn. Roca folded and the cards were turned up.

Charania: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Akkari: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Charania was ahead with a pair of queens, bit Akkari was drawing to an open-ended straight draw. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {4-Clubs}. Akkari missed and exits the 2014 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final €10,600 Main Event short of the money.
