Mercier Doesn't Back Down

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier opened for 3,200 from early position and cleared the field all the way around to Igor Kurganov, who three-bet to 10,600 from the big blind. Mercier made the call and then fired out 12,200 when his German opponent checked the {j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop.

Kurganov made the call and the check-called another bet, this time 28,000, when the dealer burned and turned the {J-Clubs}. When the {9-Spades} completed the board on the river, Kurganov checked for a third time and Mercier fired out a hefty 68,000. Kurganov hit the tank for about 90 seconds and then flicked his cards to the dealer.
