Konakchiev Doubles

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Valentino Konakchiev moved all in for 566,000 and found a caller after some thought in Luca Fiorini. Konakchiev has {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and it was, as they say, a classic race. The boards ran out {q-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Spades} it was looking grim for Konakchiev until the final card. His rail went wild and he doubled his stack going into the break.

Off to the Barcelona Races

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Over at the feature table, Kresten Nielsen got his stack of 776,000 all in preflop holding the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and was racing against the {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} of the start-of-the-day chip leader, Tom Middleton.

The {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop didn't hit Nielsen directly, but it did give him a wheel draw. The turn wasn't a deuce, but it was the {A-Spades}. Nielsen, who is a very emotional player, spiked one of his cards and subdued a celebration by shaking his first. He then waited patiently for the river to be run out, which was the harmless {K-Spades}.

Florian-Dimitrie Duta Eliminated in 21st Place (€34,950)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Florian-Dimitrie Duta - 21st Place
Florian-Dimitrie Duta - 21st Place

Pasi Sormunen opened the action for 60,000 from middle position only to have Florian-Dimitrie Duta three-bet to 140,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back around to Sormunen, he made the call, and the flop came down {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

Sormunen checked, Duta bet 135,000 and Sormunen let his inner Finn out by moving all in. Duta nonchalantly called off for 861,000 total and the cards were turned up.

Sormunen: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}
Duta: {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Duta got it in with the best hand, but one card later he'd be drawing dead as the {6-Spades} turn gave Sormunen his straight. The meaningless {A-Clubs} river was put out for good measure, and Duta took his leave in 21st place for €34,950.

Nielsen Doubles Up

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Kresten Nielsen moved all in for 346,000 and was called by Alejandro Perez. Nielsen was in trouble with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} against the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} of Perez. The board ran out {j-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and despite the turned straight draw, top pair was good enough to double up Nielsen.

Tens Hold for Feenstra

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

The preflop details escaped us, but we do know that Rens Feenstra was all in preflop for 878,000 and was racing against Valentino Konakchiev.

Feenstra: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Konakchiev: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The {6-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop was safe for Feenstra, and the {10-Diamonds} turn actually improved him to a set. With that said, Konakchiev was still looking for paint, though instead of a king and jack, he now needed a queen to make Broadway.

Fortunately for Feenstra and his supporters on the rail, the {7-Diamonds} river wasn't a lady. The chips were counted down and Konakchiev was left with just half a million after the hand.

Lukas Berglund Eliminated in 22nd Place (€34,950)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Andreas Christoforou had check raised Lukas Berglund to 135,000 on a flop of {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and Bergland made the call. They saw a turn card of {5-Hearts}. Christoforou checked again and when Bergland bet we saw a double check raise all in from Christoforou. Bergland made the call and was at risk with {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} as Christoforou had {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} leaving Bergland needing a Jack. It didn’t come as theh river fell the {a-Spades} and another player fell on the feature table.
