What a Flop for Fiorini

Level 34 : 120,000/240,000, 30,000 ante

Opened for 500,000 on the button by Luca Fiorini with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, Kimmo Kurko in the big blind made a raise to 1,180,000 with {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Fiorini called. The flop came {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, Kurko hitting his pair but surely Fiorini could not have hoped to hit the flop much harder than that? Kurko led out for 850,000 and Fiorini, instead of shoving, raised to 2,250,000. Kurko didn’t love it but he shoved all in and, after getting a price, Fiorini made the call. Fiorini was a 56% favourite at this point and Kurko was at risk, but the last two cards were {3-Clubs} {j-Clubs} and Kurko held to leave Fiorini as the short stack on 11 big blinds.
