Gury King High Call no Good

Level 33 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Benoit Gury opened on the button for 425,000 with {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and got a call from the big blind from Pasi Sormunen with {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}. They saw a flop of {3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Sormunen flopped top pair. They both checked the flop and saw a turn card of {10-Spades} to give Gury a gut shot straight draw. Sormunen now bet out for 200,000 and Gury made the call. A river {3-Clubs} and Sormunen went for thin value, betting 350,000. Gury suspected the bluff and made the call which leaves Gury as the short stack at the table.

Fiorini Picks Off Middleton’s Bluff

Level 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Tom Middleton limped the small blind with {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Luca Fiorini checked his option in the big blind with {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}. They saw a flop of {7-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} and Fiorini hit his pair. Middleton bet 250,000 and Fiorini called. The turn was the {k-Spades}. Middleton checked but when Fiorini bet 430,000 he check raised to 1,150,000. Fiorini with the nut flush draw called. The river was the {k-Clubs} and when Middleton bet small for 650,000, Fiorini made the call to pick off the bluff.

Nice Turn for Middleton

Level 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Benoit Gury opened for 325,000 from the cutoff holding {4-}{4-} and Tom Middleton decided to defend from the big blind with the {8-Spades}{6-Spades}. It then went check-check on the {2-Hearts}{q-Spades}{a-Diamonds}, the {J-Spades} turned and Middleton decided to semi-bluff with his flush draw. He dropped in a bet of 250,000 and it did the job as Gury released his hand.

Fiorini Sets a Trap

Level 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Benoit Gury raised under the gun with {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for 335,000. Luca Fiorini in the small blind three bet to 815,000 with {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and Gury elected to just call, perhaps to disguise the strength of his hand. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Fiorini decided to set a trap with his flopped trips and checked. Gury did indeed bet but only for a small 480,000. Fiorini went for the check raise to 1,200,000 and Gury wisely folded.

Eduard Bhaggoe Eliminated in 7th Place (€143,000)

Level 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante
Eduard Bhaggoe - 7th Place
Eduard Bhaggoe - 7th Place

Kimmo Kurko opened the action for 320,000 under the gun and action folded to a short-stacked Eduard Bhaggoe in the cutoff. He committed his last 2.31 million, which inspired the button and blinds to both fold and Kurko to snap-call.

Bhaggoe: {10-}{10-}
Kurko: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

It was a classic flip, but not after the flop came down {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Bhaggoe, who got up out of his seat with excitement, took a commanding lead with a set. Kurko needed to catch either running straight or flush cards to eliminate his opponent, and the {2-Diamonds} turn made that a very real possibility. Bhaggoe's excitement subsided as he watched the dealer burn one last time and put out the river... the {4-Diamonds}.

Bhaggoe's face dropped upon discovering Kurko made a winning flush. Eventually Bhaggoe composed himself, smiled and exited the stage to join his wife and mother on the rail.

Nielsen Trips Up

Level 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Benoit Gury raised under the gun to 330,000 with {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} Tom Middleton just called with {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Kresten Nielsen came along from the big blind with the suited {k-Spades}{2-Spades}. They saw a flop of {k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. Nielsen flopped trips and checked it to the raiser. Gury obliged and bet 285,000. Middleton didn’t believe him and raised to 650,000. Nielsen then sprung the trap and put out 1,175,000. The other two players folded and the rail erupted with cries of “El Torro.”
