MacPhee Makes Big Fold

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

When we arrived on the scene the board showed {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Kevin MacPhee was deep into the tank. The former EPT Berlin winner was faced with a 23,250-chip shove from Valentino Konakchiev in the small blind and MacPhee was contemplating a call from the button.

MacPhee had Konakchiev covered by just a few thousand chips and calling here would make a huge difference for day. Eventually MacPhee called us over and gave us a peek at his cards before throwing them into the muck. We won't disclose MacPhee's holding but it's safe to say that it was not an easy decision.

After the hand was completed MacPhee explained to us that this hand went five-way to the flop on which Stefan Huber bet 1,600. MacPhee called and this is when the unknown player in the small blind check-raised to 4,625. Huber and the other players folded and MacPhee called. On the turn the small blind bet 8,500 and MacPhee called again.

Like we mentioned before, Konakchiev moved all in on the river and MacPhee ended up folding. The long-time professional starts out today with a little dent in his stack but it could've gone a lot better or worse had he made the call.
