Sarwer Has Aces Cracked Again

Jeff Sarwer has just had aces cracked and is on the verge of elimination here in Prague.

Just before the break, Ramzi Jelassi opened to 40,000 in the hijack, the cutoff folded and Mikhail Petrov three-bet on the button to 87,000. Jose Manuel Nadal Sordo folded his small blind but Sarwer stuck in a four-bet to 176,000. Jelassi quickly released his hand, but Petrov took a little longer before deciding to call.

The dealer spread the {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop and Sarwer lead out for 180,000. After a brief pause, Petrov raised to what looked like 400,000 but we did not get the chance to count the yellow T25,000 chips because Sarwar moved all in and Petrov snap-called.

Petrov: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Sarwer: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

"Oh come on!" bellowed a very disappointed Sarwer.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and the river was the {8-Diamonds} and Sarwer was left with just 140,000.

Sarwer has had his aces beaten whilst deep in EPT main events at east four or five times, such a sick game sometimes!

Herm On The Rise

With 290,000 already in the pot and a flop of {6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, Mark Herm bet 55,000 from the small blind only to have Mads Amot raise to 125,000 from the big. Herm thought for about a minutes and then slide his entire stack forward. Before he'd even released his hands Amot snap-folded.

With that, Herm is over a million.

Leonzio Likes it a Lot

Marco Leonzio grabbed our Italian tournament director, Luca Vivaldi, in celebration after he doubled up. Was he expecting him to celebrate along with him? If so, he was disappointed as Vivaldi just stood still and gave a dead-pan look back.

Diego Gomez Gonzalez called the 283,000 shove and the cards were flipped up.

Leonzio: {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Gonzalez: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran {5-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} to pair Leonzio's king. The Italian finished 5th here two seasons ago and has given himself a much better chance of returning to that final table.

Iosif Beskrovnyy Eliminated in 20th Place (€25,000)

Iosif Beskrovnyy
Iosif Beskrovnyy

Iosif Beskrovnyy has just been eliminated from the European Poker Tour Prague main event after losing one of tournament poker's many coinflips.

Romanian Dany Parlafes opened to 42,000 from the hijack only to see Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden three-bet to 82,000 on the button. The small blind instantly folded, but Beskrovnyy four-bet all in for 330,000 from the big blind.

Parlafes decided the best way to play his hand was to five-bet all-in and Lodden rocked back in his chair and looked to the skies. After a minute or so, Lodden reluctantly folded and the cards were revealed.

Parlafes: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Beskrovnyy: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

The {10-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop missed Parlafes, but he did pick up a flush draw to go with his gutshot straight and two over cards. The {9-Hearts} turn missed both players but the {Q-Hearts} river was one of Parlafes' many outs and we are down to 19 players in the EPT Prague main event.

When the hand was completed Lodden said that he would have won the full pot had he called Parlafes' re-shove.
