An Orbit with Jonathan Roy
Late last month, Quebecer Jonathan Roy conquered a 1,173-player field in the World Poker Tour Montreal to win $755,601. With cash in his pocket and momentum on his side, Roy has crossed the Atlantic to take his shot at EPT glory.
We recently spent an entire orbit with Roy, who has been spotted chatting with his friends Jonathan Duhamel and Marc-Andre Ladouceur throughout the day.
Hand #1 (HJ): With 900 in the pot and a flop of , Stephen Chidwick checked from the big blind and then called when Roy bet 500 from the hijack. When the dealer burned and turned the , Chidwick ended up check-folding to a bet of 1,100 from Roy.
Hand #2: A player in middle position and Roy folded.
Hand #3: Action folded around to Roy and he followed suit.
Hand #4 (UTG+1): Roy simply folded.
Hand #5 (UTG): Roy was under the gun and first to act. He folded.
Hand #6 (BB): Stephen Chidwick raised to 525 from middle position, another player called, and Roy folded his big blind.
Hand #7 (SB): Action folded around to the player on the button and he opened for 450, which prompted Roy to fold his small blind.
Hand #8 (button): A player in middle position opened for 575 and Roy folded the button.
Hand #9 (CO): Action folded around to Roy in the cutoff and he did the same.
Unfortunately it was an unexciting orbit with Roy, but it does go to show you he's more than content to play a patient game. To learn more about Roy, check out the recent interview he did with PokerNews.
