Moneymaker Needs No Introduction
Kyle Cheong opened for 6,000 under the gun and cleared the field all the way to Chris Moneymaker, who defended from the big blind. Both players proceeded to check the flop, and then Moneymaker led out for 11,000 on the turn. Cheong folded and the Team PokerStars Pro won an easy pot.
As soon as the hand was over, Mauro Mancin began asking each player their name. While Mancin didn’t seem know either Shaun Deeb, who won five SCOOPs this past spring, nor Matt Salsberg, who took down the WPT Paris last month, he was familiar with another player at the table. “Chris Moneymaker I know,” Mancin said. It goes to show you, the man who sparked the poker boom is still well known all across the globe.
