Dominguez Smashes a Double

Javier Dominguez
Javier Dominguez

João Paulo Simão appears to have been the preflop raiser from the button, and we picked up the action live as he and Javier Dominguez (big blind) saw the first three community cards together. They were {Q-Spades} {6-Hearts} {4-Spades}, and Dominguez checked to the raiser. Simão continued out with 16,500, but Dominguez check-raised to 52,500. Simão considered for a couple long minutes, eyeballed his opponent's stack, then made the call.

The turn came the {3-Clubs}, and Dominguez quickly grabbed almost all his remaining chips and slid them across the line. "Call!" Simão announced instantly, and the dealer counted down the 209,000 from each player. Dominguez had just 7,000 chips left now. On the river {7-Hearts}, he dumped those last chips into the pot, and Simão matched the bet with his {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} for the set. No good.

Dominguez rolled over {5-Spades} {8-Spades}, and his flush draw backed into a straight to smash his monster double. It moves the Team PokerStars Online pro up to about 555,000, while Simão has been knocked back down to a still-quite-healthy 685,000.
