Super High Roller Day 2: Talal Shakerchi Leads the Way

Good morning and welcome to the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller. We overheard Will Molson telling Scott Seiver that the poker has been fun and this tells the story of this fabulous event. The stakes are high enough and the talent certainly amazing enough, to bring out the very best in the very best.

Yesterday, 38 players took a hammer, smashed open their piggy bank and paid the €100,000 entry fee here in the Ferrari-laden home of Monaco. To bolster the cash prizes even further, players were allowed to reload all day yesterday and can still buy-in for Day 2, which starts at 13:00 (CET). The likes of Isaac Haxton, Justin Bonomo, Dietrich Albrecht and Bill Perkins all purchased second bullets worth €100,000 each, but the most interesting reload came from Leon Tsoukernik.

The high roller from the Czech Republic spent his dinner break playing craps where he won €70,000. After being eliminated from the Super High Roller he promised to be back should he spin up the €70,000 into €100,000. A few shakes of a lamb's tail and he was back with his €100,000 and became our fifth reload.

The chip leader is Talal Shakerchi on 1.165 million. He overtook Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel, in the final few hands, when he eliminated another Team Pro in Viktor Blom. Some of the players who did not make it through yesterday, but have a chance to re-enter today, include Gus Hansen, Sam Trickett, Jason Mercier, Govert Metaal, Mike "Timex" McDonald, Daniel Cates, Artem Litvinov and the man himself, Leon Tsoukernik.
