Checking It Down

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

From under the gun, Philipp Gruissem raised to 80,000. Justin Bonomo made the call from the big blind and the flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. Both players checked and the turn was the {2-Hearts}. Again, they both checked.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and both checked a third and final time. Gruissem tabled the {A-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Bonomo mucked his hand.

Daniel Negreanu Takes Control of Four-Handed Play

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu raised to 95,000 in first position and Philipp Gruissem three-bet to 265,000 in the small blind. Back to Negreanu and he made a very quick call.

Flop: {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

Gruissem bet 250,000 and once again it was a quick call by Negreanu.

Turn: {3-Hearts}

475,000 this time and once again another quick call by Negreanu. This pot was getting juicy.

River: {J-Clubs}

A bit of an action killer and Gruissem slowed right down with a check. Negreanu counted out a bet of 380,000 and moved it into the pot and Gruissem folded.

Negreanu now has a substantial chip lead with four players remaining.

Kurganov Getting Shorter

Igor Kurganov limped on the button and Justin Bonomo checked in the big blind. The flop was {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and Bonomo check-called a 55,000 Kurganov bet. The {A-Spades} on the turn was checked by both players then last, but not least, we saw the {4-Diamonds} on the river. Bonomo checked for the third time and Kurganov announced a bet of 119,000. Bonomo reminded him that he could not make that bet (we have no 1k chips left) and then made the call for 120,000. Kurganov mucked his cards unseen and Bonomo did not have to show his cards to scoop the pot.

Queens For Negreanu

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Philipp Gruissem raised to 60,000 in the cutoff and Daniel Negreanu/Justin Bonomo called in the blinds. All three players checked a flop of {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} and we saw the {5-Hearts} on the turn. Bonomo was the first to bet, when he made it 140,000 and only Negreanu made the call. The river card was the {K-Diamonds} and both players checked.

Negreanu turned over {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} and Bonomo showed {9-} {8-}.

"Daniel, we could have got it in," said Gruissem.

"You had tens?" Negreanu asked and Gruissem nodded his head.

Gruissem Chipping Up with Three-Bets

Phillip Gruissem has just chipped up a bit thanks to a couple of three-bets. Both times he reraised an open from Daniel Negreanu and won the pots preflop. Yesterday, Gruissem and Negreanu tangled a bunch of times, so they looks like it's going to be a bit of a spill over from that.
