Berende Battered and Bruised

EPT regular Paul Berende looks positively miserable. He has had a difficult start to the day and it has just gotten a lot worse after this hand.

Lauri Varonen raised to 525 on the button and Berende three-bet to 1,350 in the small blind. Varonen made the call and the two of them shared a flop of {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {7-Spades}. Berende took 1,500 from his stack and moved it over the line, while the dulcet tone of Varonen just said, "call."

The turn card was the {3-Diamonds} and Berende bet once more - this time for 3,250 - and once again the table heard the Fin say, "call." On the river we saw the {5-Spades} and Berende bet 6,250 and the Finn called in a heartbeat.

"You are good," said Berende before mucking his hand.

Varonen took the pot - without revealing his hand - and now has 45,000. Berende is now down to 12,000
