On Paur for Day 2
Welcome back to PokerNews' coverage of the 2011 PokerStars.it EPT San Remo Main Event. After the completion of both starting days here in San Remo, Italy, the field of 837 hopefuls has been ground down 482.
Taylor Paur claimed the overall chip lead on Day 1b with a solid surge towards the end of the night. He finished on 188,200 in chips. Brandon Cantu, Nick Yunis, Vanessa Selbst, Domenico Cordi and Nicola Grieco also played Day 1b and they'll be the ones following him before Day 1a's leader, Gianluca Trebbi, lands in seventh overall.
Another notable cracking the top 10, but just barely, is Anton Wigg with 152,800 in chips. Wigg won the EPT6 Copenhagen Main Event for $672,818.
Also remaining in the field are Team PokerStars Pros Johnny Lodden (113,800), EPT6 San Remo champion Liv Boeree (106,500), Salvatore Bonavena (85,600) and Sandra Naujoks (71,400).
Day 2 is set to kick off at 2:00 PM local time, or 1400 CET (0500 PDT). First place is €800,000 and the top 128 spots are being paid out. We don't plan to hit that today, but we could get very close so be sure to follow along with all the action throughout the day.
