Put a Bow On Day 3; It's Wrapped
Well that was quite a day of poker.
Our returning field for this Day 3 at the PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona was 141 players strong, and it was littered with dangerous players. Fortunately for those still alive, many of the sharks were harpooned over the course of the 7+ levels that we ran through today.
The Team PokerStars family began to dissolve right from the word 'go' as Ivan Demidov and Leo Fernandez were among the very first casualties of the day. Next to fall was the SportStar, tennis legend Boris Becker who was enjoying his first in-the-money finish in an EPT Main Event. It all came crashing down in 97th place, though, and Becker was joined by Benny Spindler, Rino Mathis, and Jan Skampa as those taking home mini-cashes of €8,000.
Vanessa Selbst at times looked like she might take control of this day, but her run came to a big end in the middle of the day. She got her money in good with ace-king and a shot at a huge pot, but Juan Navarrete's ace-jack got there to send her on her way with a small cash. The PokerStars Team continued to thin as Victor Ramdin, Andre Akkari, and Alex Kravchenko were also run out over the course of this brutal day.
When all the shouting was done, there were 24 players left, and it's Matthias De Meulder and Eugene Katchalov left to defend the PokerStars team. They (and the other 21 players) are chasing Tomeu Gomila and his monster stack of 2.547 million puts him a couple hundred thousand chips out in front. Other notables still in the mix include Raul Mestre, Evgeny Zaytsev, Marton Czuczor, and Sigurd Eskeland.
The penultimate day is slated for noon tomorrow, and we'll be back here as they play this thing down to a final table.
Until tomorrow, all that's left is goodnight! Oh, and your Day 4 table draw:
