We're Out of Champions
EPT6 Prague champion (and Czech native) Jan Skampa was eliminated just before the last break, and we sort of let it slip by. Upon closer inspection, however, we realized that we're now out of former EPT champions here in Barcelona. The EPT is still without a repeat champion in its eight seasons, and that trend will continue for at least one more stop.
Notably, Eugene Katchalov is still alive, and he does have some EPT hardware. It's not a Main Event trophy, but Katchalov has a place in EPT history (and $1.5 million) from his victory in the $100,000 Super High Roller event at the last PCA.
Martin Jacobson is also still alive, and he's an EPT sicko in his own right. Last season, he finished runner-up at both EPT Villamoura and EPT Deauville, and he's just about 80 players away from another runner-up finish here in Barcelona.
Or will this be the one for Martin??
