Bringing the Rufas Down
Level 9
: 500/1,000, 100 ante
Luis Rufas, EPT Barcelona 10th place finisher, spent much of yesterday in the upper echelons of the chip counts - until he had a run-in with a clearly unexpected opponent's set. Just now he's taken another hit, and he's now down to 27,000, less than the Day 1 starting stack.
He opened to 2,200 under the gun and it folded right around to the gentleman in the big blind who made the call to see a flop. He check-called 2,300 from Rufas, and they continued to the turn.
Both players checked the turn and indeed the river as well, at which point the gent in the big blind turned over for a pair of tens. Rufas presumably couldn't beat it as he mucked, and he looked incredibly frustrated as he assessed his remaining stack.
