A Walk in the Parkkinen

We arrived just in time to see a three-way all in on a {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop. Bit of a cooler, really.

Kai Välimäki: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} for an overpair
Praz Bansi: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for the best overpair
Seppo Parkkinen: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for top set

Turn: {7-Clubs}

River: {3-Hearts}

"How much is it?" asked the rather dejected Bansi before the river had even hit the felt. After paying Parkkinen, Bansi was back down just a shade below his starting stack. Välimäki meanwhile had even more cause to be dejected - he was left with no chips at all, and after standing behind his chair and looking forlorn for a few moments, hit the rail. The only person involved in the hand who was happy at the end of it was Parkkinen, who more than doubled up to around 65,000.

"The Finnish player is out," commented a passing member of the Finnish poker media philosophically, "But a Finnish player also won the pot. Ha ha ha."
