Michael Piper raised to 55,000 and got called by Claudio Piceci behind him and Paul Berende from the big blind.
All three players checked the flop before Berende led out for 77,000 on the turn. Piper now suddenly decided to make it 255,000 to play and Piceci folded.
Berende thought long and hard into the break, looking as though he really wanted to at least call, but eventually, and reluctantly, folded to the Englishman.
Jens Thorson raised and Maurizio Baravalle called. Ramon Demon Cserei reraised to 155,000 - and Alexey Rybin shoved. Thorson and Baravalle folded, but after some though Cserei made the call.
Cserei:
Rybin:
"No ace," said Rybin. "ASSSSSSS!!!!" shouted Cserei (we know it means 'ace' in Italian, but still, it's funny).
Thang Duc Nguyen is back down to 750,000 after a run-in with Dermot Blain.
We caught up with them on the turn of a board with Nguyen betting out 100,000. Blain called and they saw the river.
The river was the and Nguyen bet out 185,000 but Blain asked Nguyen to count out his remaining chips before raising to 750,000. Nguyen tanked up for a long time, and eventually folded.
Erik Tamm opened to 75,000 from middle position, and the table folded around to Liv Boeree's small blind. She looked like she had raising on her mind as she slowly cut out chips and shot a few sideways glances across the table. Eventually, she settled on 170,000 and slid it across the line. Tamm thought it over for a minute or two before announcing an all in, and Boeree called with no delay, committing her final 684,000 chips to the pot to put herself in jeopardy.
Showdown
Tamm:
Boeree:
The appeared right in the door, which was a bit of a scare for Boeree. In the end though, the board of is safe and clean, holding Boeree's aces and notching her a huge double up to about 1.42 million.
