Volodymyr Zakharov Eliminated in 16th Place (€12,000)

Volodymyr Zakharov - 16th Place
Volodymyr Zakharov - 16th Place
First in from the button, Andrew Malott made it 27,000 to play. Next door, small blind Volodymyr Zakharov announced a re-raise to 131,000, leaving right around 50,000 chips in his stack. When the big blind folded, Malott announced, "I go all in," and Zakharov would commit the rest of his stack, his tournament life now in immediate danger.

Showdown
Malott: {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Zakharov: {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}

The flop would bring a spark of hope for Zakharov as it came {2-Spades} {K-Hearts} {5-Hearts} to give him a couple more outs. The {8-Diamonds} that hit the turn was a blank, though, and the {3-Spades} that filled out the board was of no use to him either. Unable to get over the hump, Volodymyr Zakharov has been sent to the exit in 16th place, taking home a pay bump up to €12,000.

Waldemar Kopyl Eliminated in 17th Place (€9,600)

Waldemar Kopyl - 17th Place
Waldemar Kopyl - 17th Place
We caught up to this one on the turn, with the board showing {Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and already approximately a quarter million chips in the middle. Waldemar Kopyl checked, and Vadim Markushevski bet 100,000. Kopyl then announced he was all in, and Markushevski instantly called.

Markushevski turned over {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the nut straight. Then Kopyl revealed he'd picked a bad spot to bluff, turning over {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. No card could save Kopyl, making the {7-Spades} on the river just a bit of trivia.

Kopyl is out, and Markushevski catapults to 1.65 million -- our likely leader at the moment.

Schaap Slips Up

Ad Schaap
Ad Schaap
Alexander Dovzhenko opened the pot with a raise to 27,000, and Ad Schaap came along with the call, offering up a token, "Wow, maybe I'm on tilt."

Heads up, the flop came {6-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, and Dovzhenko continued out with a bet of 35,000. Schaap had that raising look in his eyes, but he elected to flat-call and see another card. The turn was the {Q-Spades} to pair the board, and both players check-checked this time.

The last card off the deck was the {8-Spades}, and Dovzhenko figured it was time for another bet. He stacked out 50,000 this time and slid them across the line in a tidy tower of yellow chips. Schaap let out a heavy sigh as he eyed up his opponent. After a long pause, he added 65,000 chips to the bet and made a raise to 115,000. Dovzhenko thought it over long and hard before making the call, and Schaap could only show down {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Dovzhenko proudly tabled {A-Spades} {10-Hearts}, his two pair good enough to earn him a nice pot.

That slip drops Ad Schaap down to about 290,000 heading toward the third break.

Shoveski Works for Markushevski

Vadim Markushevski

No showdown, but a huge pot in this one between Vadim Markushevski and Adrian Schaap.

With over 200,000 already in the middle and the board showing {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, Markushevski checked from the big blind, Schaap bet 125,000 from middle position, and Markushevski called. Both then checked the {8-Clubs} turn.

The river brought the {7-Spades}, and a rapidly-delivered declaration of "all in" from Markushevski. Schaap didn't appear to want to let it go, but fold he did.

After that one, Markushevki moves up to 1.15 million and into second place overall. Schaap, meanwhile, slips to 405,000.

Iliya Gorodetskiy Eliminated in 19th Place (€9,600)

Iliya Gorodetskiy - 20th Place
Iliya Gorodetskiy - 20th Place
Down to just 45,000, Iliya Gorodetskiy (Russia) open-pushed all in from the small blind, and Torsten Tent (Germany) quickly called him from the big blind. Gorodestskiy showed {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}. At least he had two live cards versus Tent's {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

The flop came {J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, and Gorodetskiy was in bad shape. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, meaning the Russian could still hit a straight. But the river was the {8-Diamonds}, and Gorodetskiy is out in 20th place.

Tent has joined the one-million chip club now, though still is far behind chip leader Maxim Lykov who has about 1.5 million.
