Turns out he was holding
and saw a 
flop with two hearts on it. He checked, he raised when the other guy bet, he called when the other guy pushed, and his opponent's 
made a flush on the turn. At least he has a new hat though -- he goes through the trilbies at a rate of knots, leaving them in various hotels and airports around the world. "I'm keeping this one," he said. "I lost all my chips but I'm keeping my hat. I'm done with losing today." Good man.
