Santa Maria Bests Montiel Twice. Ballestero Too
Fernando Santa Maria bet 15,000 from the button on a flop of 7♦J♣A♣ and Jose Maria Montiel called in the big blind.
The turn came the 3♦ and Santa Maria bet another 45,000. Montiel folded A♥2♥ and Santa Maria showed him A♠7♠ for two pair as he took the pot.
The next hand, David Ballestero limped in under the gun before Santa Maria raised to 20,000 in the cutoff. Montiel called in the small blind, as did Ballestero.
The flop came 7♦5♣2♦ and Montiel led out for 20,000. Both opponents called to see the Q♥ turn, where action checked to Santa Maria.
He bet 55,000 and Montiel tanked for several minutes before folding. Ballestero also spent a few minutes in the tank before the clock was called. He eventually joined Montiel in the muck as Santa Maria took a pot that lasted nearly 10 minutes.
