Procopio Pushes Ahead

Lou Procopio has just taken control here at Seneca Niagara after beating William Vogel out of a 1.6-million chip pot.

The action started with Procopio making it 75k on the button and Vogel defending his big blind. The flop came {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Vogel took the lead, making it 55k.

Procopio fired right back, raising it up to 120k total and Vogel made the call. The turn brought the {3-Spades} and a check from Vogel. Procopio responded by sliding out a 200k bet and after a slight hesitation, Vogel made the call.

The river came the {6-Diamonds} and after Vogel checked, Procopio bet 400k. Vogel made the call, but was forced to muck when Procopio turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

More for Goetz

Nick Goetz raised to 85,000 on the button and Lou Procopio called from the big blind. Both players checked the {j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop, and the {Q-Clubs} hit the turn. Procopio eyed his opponent's stack and fired 80,000. Goetz moved all in for 370,000, and Procopio got away without giving any more to the short stack.

Goetz Chips Up

Despite sitting with a tiny stack compared to his opponents, Nicholas P. Goetz is literally dominating three-handed play.

The 21-year-old has shoved three times since the break and picked up a few more pots with a series of opening raises.

It appears his stack has almost doubled in size and he hasn't had to show down a hand yet.

Michael Wachowski Eliminated in 4th Place ($22,245)

Even though they're playing under the bright lights and in front of TV cameras for the first time, these guys certainly aren't shying away from moving chips around. Michael Wachowski just made a huge bluff for all of his chips on the last hand of the level, and William Vogel picked him off to leave us with three players.

Vogel raised to 55,000 from the cutoff and Wachowski called in the big blind to see a flop of {4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Wachowski checked, Vogel fired his standard 35,000-chip continuation bet, and Wachowski check-raised to 120,000. Vogel called, and Wachowski took little time before moving all in for 343,000 on the {2-Clubs} turn. Vogel paused for a moment before calling and tabled {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

"I'm bluffing," said Wachowski. "You got me."

Wachowski turned over {K-Hearts}{7-Spades} and need a king to stay alive. The {4-Hearts} on the river changed nothing, and Wachowski exited our final table in third place.

The players just went on a short break. We suppose we'll take one, too.

Vogel Moves in Front

William Vogel has moved into the chip lead after taking a hefty pot from Nicholas P. Goetz.

The hand began with Vogel making it 55k from under the gun and Goetz flatting from the small blind. Goetz took the lead on the {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, but could not shake Vogel with a 65k bet.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and another Goetz lead, this time for 100,000. Vogel flatted again, but when the {3-Spades} river fell and Goetz checked, Vogel took the lead, betting 166,000.

Goetz thought it over, but made the call with {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for top pair and appeared shocked to see Vogel had rivered the straight with {4-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Raise And Take It

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Lou Procopio has turned up the aggression now that we're four-handed. Procopio has taken down three pots in a row, the first two by raising preflop without any resistance. Earlier today, we saw Procopio open with {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, so we're willing to guess that he doesn't have aces every time.

Tom Krol Eliminated in 5th Place ($17,802)

Tom Krol 5th Place.
Tom Krol 5th Place.

Tom Krol limped the small blind and William Vogel checked his option in the big.

The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} and brought some heavy fireworks with it. Krol led for 50k before Vogel pushed all in, having Krol well covered.

Krol took his time, but eventually made the call for his last 193,000. He was ahead, holding {j-Hearts}{3-Spades} for top pair against Vogel's {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and the open ender. However, the {k-Spades} came down on the turn and completed Vogel's straight.

Drawing dead, Krol was already out of his chair and shaking hands with the other players as the {k-Hearts} river was revealed.
