Chip Counts on Bubble - Start of Level 18

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Play has slowed down with regards to any pots with meaningful action. Matt Livingston has been the biggest benefactor of bubble play to this point, having continuiously accumulated over the last level.

Meanwhile, four of the six players now find themselves with under 30 big blinds in their stack after what has been a deep-stacked day throughout the entire tournament.

Gonzales Takes from Alipourfard

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Mansour Alipourfard opened from the hijack to 17,000 and Danny Gonzales three-bet him to 42,000 out of the cutoff.

Both players checked through the flop {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and turn {k-Spades}. The river came {4-Hearts} and Alipourfard checked once more. Gonzales picked up a stack of red T5,000 chips and cut out a bet of 65,000. Alipourfard quickly sent his cards to the muck.

Gonzales and Livingston Commit Stacks

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Danny Gonzales opened to 16,000 on the button and Matt Livingston put in a three-bet to 58,000 out of the small blind.

Gonzales thought for a few moments before announcing he was all in. Livingston quickly called and tabled his hand.

Matt Livingston: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Danny Gonzales: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Before tabling his hand, Gonzales gave Livingston a little smirk. He sat there for about three seconds and then his smirk turned into a grin as he turned over the same hand that Livingston had. The runout [5c8sdjs5s] ensured a chop by the time the flop was spread and the two took back their bets as the dealer chopped up what was in the middle.

Thomas Heine Eliminated in 7th Place

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Thomas Heine
Thomas Heine

Danny Gonzales opened to 15,000 from under the gun and action folded around to Thomas Heine, who went all in for around 125,000 from the small blind. Gonzales quickly called.

Thomas Heine: {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Danny Gonzales: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

Heine had already won two big pots with the nine-trey earlier in the tournament, one of which came with his tournament life at stake. A nine came in the window as the flop came {2-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, but there would be no further sweat as the dealer brought the turn {j-Spades} and river {4-Spades} to send Heine home in seventh place.

With Heine's elimination, six players remain and the tournament is officially on the bubble.

Macias Trending Downward

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Matt Livingston opened to 10,500 from the cutoff and saw Erik Macias three-bet him on the button to 36,000. Action folded back to Livingston and he thought for about 45 seconds before announcing he was all in. Macias then took about 45 seconds before folding, saying he should have just shoved all in over the top of Livingston's open instead of three-betting him.

On the following hand, Macias opened from the cutoff and saw Bobby Opila shove all in over the top of him from the button. He forcefully helicoptered his cards to the muck at a 45-degree angle from eye level as Opila raked in the pot.

Anthony Martinez Eliminated in 8th Place

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Anthony Martinez
Anthony Martinez

Erik Macias was under the gun and opened to 14,000. Jon Cohen called from the hijack and action folded around to Anthony Martinez, who went all in from the small blind for his last 39,000. Both Macias and Cohen called to take any postflop action to a side pot.

The flop came {7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Macias checked. Cohen bet 20,000 and Macias called. The turn came {9-Hearts} and Macias checked again. Cohen threw out another 20,000 while announcing a bet of 40,000. The dealer announced the bet of 40,000. Macias quickly folded and it was time to turn up the remaining two hands.

Jon Cohen: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Anthony Martinez: {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}

Cohen was one card away from earning the knockout and the sizeable pot. The river fell {a-Clubs} and the pot was sent his way as Martinez got up and wished everybody good luck.

Macias commented that he would have called 30,000 if Cohen had bet that amount on the turn. He also stated he had folded an ace. A comment was then overheard that it was a good thing Cohen bet 40,000.

With the pot, Cohen finds himself nearing 300,000 in chips, which puts him above average with seven players remaining.
