Torres Smacks the Flop to Bust Karas; Goncalves' Dream Start Continues
Cristian Nagaki raised to 40,000 under the gun and was called by Blas Torres in middle position. Alan Karas then moved all in for 70,000 in the cutoff and both opponents called.
Nagaki and Torres both checked the 9♠4♦6♣ flop. The turn was the 7♥ and Torres bet 105,000, forcing out Nagaki.
Torres then showed 9♥9♦ for top set and Karas was already drawing dead with A♥J♠. The river was the 6♠ and Karas was eliminated.
At the same time at another table, Paulo Goncalves and Jaime Junior built a pot of around 500,000 as they went to the river with the board showing 10♠5♥4♦8♥10♣. Junior then bet 150,000 from the big blind, Goncalves moved all in from the hijack, and Junior snap-called for around 500,000.
Goncalves showed 5♠5♦ for a full house and Junior tossed 10♥6♥ into the muck on his way to exit as Goncalves scooped the massive pot.
