Robert Nguyen Slips a Little

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

Robert Nguyen was up to about 140,000 chips, then opened to 1,300 under-the-gun. A short-stack went all-in and two other players came along for the flop of {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. It was checked around, then the {j-Spades} turn card prompted a bet from the small blind in Seat 2, which Nguyen called.

River was the {8-Hearts} and Seat 2 fired 4,500. Nguyen called, showing {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for top pair, but Seat 2 had {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for aces-up to take the pot. Nguyen was left with about 120,000 and is still among the early big stacks in Flight E.

Back in April of this year, Robert claimed his first win at Borgata in the $500 Black Chip Bounty Deep Stack NLH, along with more than $48,000 in prize money. His best live cash, however, came in the 2017 Winter Poker Open DeepStack Kick-Off event. He took second place and more than $205,000 in a seven-way adjusted payout agreement.
