Event #7 Champion Hal Rotholz
Event #7 Champion Hal Rotholz

The seventh event of the 2019 Borgata Fall Poker Open is now in the books after a grueling day of mixed game action, and reigning supreme is Hal Rotholz who bested a 67 player field to take home the $7,408 first-place prize, along with a prestigious Borgata trophy.

Rotholz took down a star-studded final table that included the likes of JJ Liu, Roland Israelashvili and Gary Kosakowski. Rotholz had some stiff competition but held his own and showed why he has over a quarter of a million in live tournament earnings.

The heads-up play saw Marc Tholheim duel with Rotholz in a heated exchange of two and three-bets as the pendulum swung back and forth. Tholheim almost knocked Rotholz down a few times but failed to fade the split pot cards during crucial moments. Tholheim put up a good fight but in the end, he came up just short and had to settle for a respectable second-place finish worth $4,289.

Omaha Hi-Lo

Hal Rotholz limped the button, Marc Tholheim checked his option and the dealer spread out {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} on the flop. Tholheim bet, Rotholz made it two and Tholheim moved all in, Rotholz called.

Marc Tholheim: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Hal Rotholz: {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

The {7-Spades} peeled off on the turn, smashing Rotholz with a full house and Tholheim now needed to fill up as well or he was going to be finishing as runner up. A {4-Diamonds} landed on the felt, cementing the pot for Rotholz as Tholheim was sent packing in second for a respectable $4,289.
