Lay of the Land
Things are off to a relatively slow start, as expected with deep stacks (Event 10) and a small field (Event 11). About 200 players registered so far for $450 Deepest Stack No-Limit Hold'em, but the only notable face we've picked out thus far is Allard Broedelet, who finished as the chip leader in the ill-fated first event here at the Borgata Winter Poker Open. As for the Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, photos will be up shortly, but less than 40 players have registered thus far, with Chris Reslock being the most notable. They're playing short-handed on six tables.
Perhaps a little coffee and Michael Jackson will get things going; we spotted a few players grooving to "Thriller" when it came on a few minutes ago, and a cocktail waitress just walked into the room sporting a tray with about 10 coffees.
