Allyn Marshall Eliminated in 2nd Place ($51,318)

Allyn Marshall - 2nd Place ($51,318)
Allyn Marshall - 2nd Place ($51,318)

Allyn Marshall survived hours playing heads up against Nicholas Immekus, but in a series of three hands contested in a matter of minutes it was all over.

For a moment though, it appeared that top honors would be going his way, as Marshall scored a major double up to take the lead before the deck conspired against him.

First, Marshall check-raised for all his chips (about 10 million) on the {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop and Immekus snapped him off while triumphantly tabling {a-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Marshall could only muster the {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for bottom pair, putting him on the brink of elimination, but the dealer burned and turned the {6-Diamonds} to thrust him into the lead. The {j-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing, and suddenly Marshall had Immekus on the ropes.

Just a deal or two after that, Immekus open-shoved with {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} and it was Marshall's turn to snap-call with his {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}. Before he could celebrate, however, the {2-Diamonds} appeared right in the window, and the final board rolled out {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} to swing things back in Immekus' favor.

The finishing blow came minutes later, when Marhsall ran his {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts} all-in move against Immekus' {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. A runout of {4-Spades}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts} provided no further miracles, and with that Marshall finished as the runner-up for a $51,318 score.
