Ground Hog's Day
Good morning, and welcome back to the wonderful Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa for Day 1b of the 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open Championship Event!
Day 1a attracted a total of 115 entries - 57 of which bagged and tagged - and the chip leader when the dust settled was Paul Volpe. Volpe bagged 206,600, and was the only player in the room to crack the 200,000-chip threshold.
Other players who finished the first flight with six-figure stacks include Jeff Madsen, Dan Heimiller, and Greg Ostrander.
Some players, like Melanie Weisner, bagged very small stacks and have a tough decision to make; reenter and forfeit their stack, or come back on Day 2 and try to run it up. Others who busted during Day 1a have no choice but to reenter if they want to compete for the 2014 BSO Championship.
Like yesterday, we will be playing eight 75-minute levels with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 6. With 115 entries on Day 1a, the magic number today is 285 to reach the $1 million guarantee.
