Polychronological

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Athanasios Polychronopoulos' recent win took longer than it takes to write his name
Athanasios Polychronopoulos' recent win took longer than it takes to write his name

After the action folded around to Athanasios Polychronopoulos in the small blind, he waited for 30 seconds or so before making his move. That move happened to be a limp into the pot, and Mike Leah exercised his big blind option by tapping the table, with his check preceded by a half minute of thought as well.

The flop came down {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Polychronopoulos froze at the sight, waiting good and long before flicking out a 7,000 c-bet. Leah looked over at Polychronopoulos and stared him down, covering his own mouth with his hoodie and reflecting on the things one reflects over when faced with a bet of one big blind. Finally, he tossed out the requisite calling chips to see the {2-Diamonds} fall on the turn.

Polychronopoulos studied the baby card board and stared into the ether, waiting for more than a minute before moving a 16,000 wager into the middle. Leah responded with his own tank job, sitting still as a stone and moving his gaze back and forth from the board to his opponent's eyes. Finally, he flatted and fifth street fell {j-Diamonds}.

More than 35 seconds passed before a 35,000 bet was made, with Polychronopoulos firing his third barrel at Leah. Another minute or two later, the hand finally ended with a crying call by Leah, who even waited a while to muck his cards after Polychronopoulos tabled {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a runner-runner flush catch.

David Farah Eliminated

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Leonardo Palermo
Leonardo Palermo

After being crippled earlier, David Farah put the rest of his short stack in with {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and was up against Leonardo Palermo and his {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. The flop would come {8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Farah had already grabbed his things and was walking away from the table. He slowed down for a moment while saying "five".

The dealer put out the {10-Clubs} and Farah took another step while saying "five" one more time.

The dealer put out the {8-Spades} and Farah turned and walked off. Not slow any longer.

Herm Heads Home

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Mark Herm - Eliminated
Mark Herm - Eliminated

Mark Herm open shoved for his last 100,000 or so, and next to act Ray Qartomy peeked down at the prettiest sight in poker: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} in the hole.

With bullets in the hole and a big enough stack to isolate, Qartomy shoved for 325,000 and folded the rest of the table, finding himself well out in front of Herm's {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

The flop came {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts} to give Herm a glimmer of hope, and he made two pair on the {a-Diamonds} turn, but unfortunately for him improving his hand actually left him drawing dead. The {2-Clubs} completed the board on the river to send Herm out, while Qartomy chipped up in style.

Allard Broedelet Doubles Up

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Allard Broedelet
Allard Broedelet

All the chips went into the middle on a {J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop with Allard Broedelet holding {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} and David Farah holding {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Broedelet was holding his breath as his tournament life was on the line, but he was able to exhale when the turn came the {K-Diamonds}. A quiet fist pump and then another fist pump as the river of {4-Hearts} meant the pot was going to be pushed his way.

Broedelet is perhaps best known for being the chip leader of Event One of the Borgata Winter Poker Open before the event was suspended due to the counterfeit chip scandal. It'd be quite the story if he could make a deep run here.

Sylvia Wins Big Pot Off of Eugene Todd

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jesse Sylvia
Jesse Sylvia

We get there and the action is on the river with 70,000 already in the pot and the board showing {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Eugene Todd has checked and Jesse Sylvia, as is his custom, is being very deliberate before taking any action. He makes a bet finally of 53,000. Todd is a bit quicker, but still thinks for awhile before making the call. He mucks when he sees Sylvia's {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

Short Stack, Shorter Day

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Brandon Steven - Eliminated
Brandon Steven - Eliminated

Brandon Steven entered Day 3 riding the shortest stack in the room, and just one orbit into the proceedings he has hit the rail.

We caught the showdown of an all-in confrontation involving Steven and Corey Hochman, with the latter wielding {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} to dispatch the former's {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

The final board ran out {2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} to leave Steven with the second-best hand, and with that he headed for the exits.
