Event #10 High: $10,000 GTD PLO8

Day 1 Completed

"Luckyduck" Defeats "spinach_kale" To Win the 2020 Borgata Spring Poker Open Online Series Event #10 HIGH: $10,000 GTD PLO8 High-Lo For $4,425

On Thursday, "Luckyduck" became the newest champion in the Borgata Spring Poker Open Online Series after defeating "spinach_kale" heads-up and topping a field of 59 entries to win Event #10 High: $10,000 GTD PLO8 for $4,425. By doing so, he denied "spinach_kale" his second victory of the series after he had taken down PLO 6-Max event.

The event marked the second HIGH stakes PLO tournament but first PLO8 Hi-Lo and it only began with eight players. Eventually, the tournament gradually gained more players up until registration closed in Level 19. From there, it only took three levels for the tournament to reach its final table with "spinach_kale" leading the way.

Final Table Action

"ThaBoa" was the first to drop at the final table followed by "Stingray99" leaving the remaining players in the money.

Once players were in the money, it wouldn't take long for them to drop. First was Borgatapoker.com poker pro Michael "Gags30" Gagliano who fell in level 27 (seventh place).

The next level saw a slew of elimination that included, "BigDickRick" (sixth place), "MattEMenz" (fifth place), and "thekid32" (fourth place).

"smoothustler" was next to drop (third place) after their aces were cracked by the wheel of "Luckyduck" on the river.

The heads-up match saw "Luckyduck" hold a 4:1 chip advantage over "spinach_kale" and it was over within two hands after "Luckyduck" rivered the nut-flush denying "spinach_kale" his second 2020 Borgata Spring Poker Open title.

Ari Engel Eliminated in 2nd Place ($2,330)

In level 29 (3,500/7,000) Ari Engel was all in preflop for 82,049 and was called by "Luckyduck".

Ari Engel: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
"Luckyduck": {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Engel was ahead and the {10-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop gave him broadway outs but it also gave "Luckyduck" the nut-flush draw.

The {5-Hearts} turn paired the board as Engel needed to dodge the river to win the hand.

Unfortunately for Engel, the river fell the {8-Clubs} giving "Luckyduck" the nut-flush eliminating him in 2nd place.
